l 2008, Chile fue sede de la Copa
Mundial Femenina Sub-20 de la FIFA.
Y el Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso recibió
a este certamen con un rostro totalmente renovado, luego de ser reconstruido,
gracias a una importante inversión del
estadio de poco más de 26 millones de
dólares, lo que le permitió, entre otras
cosas, aumentar su capacidad y tener un
100 por ciento de butacas.
Hoy, dos bandejas alojan al público que,
cuando no hay eventos internacionales,
se sientan cómodamente a ver al club
local, Coquimbo Unido o a la Selección
Chilena Adulta, que ha jugado algunos
amistosos en los pastos del “Puerto Pirata”.
Anteriormente, albergó otros torneos
como el Campeonato Sudamericano
Sub-20 de 1997 y el Torneo Preolímpico
Sudamericano Sub-23 del año 2004.

Women´s World Cup. And the Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso received this
event with a totally renovated image,
after being reconstructed, thanks to an
important investment from the state of

Today, two trays host the public that,
when there are no international events,
sits comfortably to watch the local
club, Coquimbo Unido, or the National
Adult Team, that had play some friendly
matches in the grass of the ¨Pirate Port¨
Previously, it hosted other international
events such as the U-20 South American Championship in 1997 and the
U-23 South American Pre Olympic Tournament in the year 2004.
