Step 5 Cutting a Laminate Top to Length
5.1 Measure the length needed onto
the face of the top.
Place a strip of masking tape from the
backsplash to the front over the area
that will be cut. Even though the top will
be cut from the underside, the tape will
help minimize chipping to the laminate.
Mark the dimensions at the very back
of the splash and the lowest part of the
dropedge on the masking tape.
5.2
Turn the top over to expose
the underside and transfer the dimen-
sions.
Draw a line between the two marks.

Set a saw
guide to the
underside
of the top
and clamp
or fasten it
into place.
Confirm it is
perpendicu-
lar to the
top.
