don't hold your breath because Tull also touched on the issue by saying the following: "Those are two different experiences: being in an RPG versus seeing a movie - and trying to be clever and saying, "Let's create some kind of cutting-edge RPG thing
"That is scary to me. This is about, can you take this lore and this universe that they've created and turn it into a great movie?” I would have to agree.
It would seem that Bioware is taking it's time with The Mass Effect movie as to see the story and character faithfully adapted, this only makes sense in light of fan outrage over ME 3's ending.
I say let them take their time and give us a movie as great as the games. Give us a movie that makes us fall in love with the
characters all over again. If they can capture the essence of what made the game franchise so
great and combine that with
great storytelling then the movie is sure to be something magical. That is all we know for now. Keep in mind that there are so many different factors that go into making a motion picture and things like directors and producers can and will change at the blink of an eye.
Most likely this game will not be titled “Mass Effect 4” (or it will have a subtitle to se it apart from the first 3 games in the series) and it is meant to be the start of a fresh new trilogy. For the purpose of this article we will continue to call it “Mass Effect 4.”
Early production on “ME 4” began in late 2012. Since then Bioware has been very tight lipped in regards to any details about the next installment of the acclaimed franchise. Officials like Yanick Roy (Director of BioWare’s Montreal studio) have given slight hints, teasers and clues as to what we can expect using social media. Roy among other Bioware employees can regularly be seen conversing with fans through the company’s official Twitter.
Last year on N7 day 11/7/2013 we got our first glimpse of the game in a series of teaser images twitted by Bioware staff. Recently through Twitter we’ve learned that the game is in a playable state and motion capture processes have began. This news hints that a trailer is in the works for the game or at the very least a teaser.
A few key things Bioware has made clear are, Commander Shepard’s story arc ended with Mass Effect 3. Bioware doesn’t want a rehashing of the original trilogy but instead something new and fresh yet still familiar to fans of the franchise. Aaron Flynn has said the game is "Ambitious. Beautiful. Fresh but recognizable. And fun!” Yanick Roy has also stated “It will be the same (type) of game as the first 3.” Shepard’s squad mates are also unlikely to return. latest news and developments
Bioware does have another game set to release in September of this year by the name of Dragon Age: Inquisition however fans need not be worried as there are dedicated teams for both projects.
There has been much speculation as to the timeline, setting, and release date for the game, however no official word. This is just speculation at this point on my part but I highly doubt Mass Effect 4 will focus on the “Contact War” and I’m almost certain that it will not be a prequel. It is very doubtful that Bioware will leave E3 this summer without some mention of ME4. I would be completely astonished if we didn’t get at least a tidbit of new info or even a teaser trailer for Mass Effect 4. My sources tell me that Dragon Age will be EA’s main focus at this years E3 as to be expected however I’ve also heard whispers of a March 2015 release for ME4?
We will be sure to keep you updated on all the the latest news.
