Welcome to our honoured guests, exhibitors, visitors, speakers and friends.
It is no surprise that Fi Asia 2018, a leading regional tradeshow dedicated to food ingredients, is taking place
in Indonesia, the economic powerhouse and largest population in ASEAN. With a wide range of agricultural
commodities and processed food items, Indonesia has a vibrant and diversified food and beverage industry,
which is a key contributor to the national economy and is an attractive destination for foreign investment.
Let me share a few highlights. Once again, Fi Asia 2018 will make history – floor space has expanded by 40%
compared with Fi Asia 2016, the last edition in Jakarta. Fi Asia 2018 will cover eight halls, bringing together more than
750 leading local, regional and international food and beverage ingredient suppliers and distributors from
60 countries, and over 20,000 attendees. These numbers speak for themselves!
The continued evolution and growth of Fi Asia reflects the robust development of the food and beverage sector
both in Indonesia and the entire ASEAN. I take this ongoing development as a sign that we are doing the right
things right. We work for you – to support the business of our exhibitors and visitors. Your success is our success.
This significant growth could not have occurred without the continued support of our valued partners: the Ministry
of Industry, Indonesia Food & Beverage Association (GAPMMI), Southeast Asian Food & Agricultural Science &
Technology (SEAFAST) Center of Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesian Association Food Technologists (IAFT/PATPI).
This clearly shows how strong partnerships could multiply our strengths. My heartfelt thanks to all of you.
My sincere appreciation also goes to the many conference and seminar speakers from all over the world who
have come to Fi Asia 2018 to share their valuable knowledge and expertise. I would also like to take this opportunity
to thank our exhibitors, visitors and the hard-working UBM team for making Fi Asia 2018 another success.
I trust that Fi Asia 2018 will be both enjoyable and profitable, and that you will actively participate in the many
business and educational opportunities. I invite you to Fi Asia 2019 on 11-13 September in Bangkok, Thailand.
