4 October 2005 HOMECOMING 2005 There’s a new IT’S MORE THAN JUST A GAME principal in town With this year’s theme as “board games,” Fraser pride reached it’s highest peek FRESHMEN SOPHOMORES SENIORS JUNIORS By Amanda Dupure Flash Reporter When most people think of a principal they think of the mean, inconsiderate, cold authorities portrayed in most movies like The Breakfast Club. This year Fraser High School has been given the opportunity to break that cycle with an enthusiastic, fun-loving principal named Dr. David Richards. Dr. Richards came from Rochester schools where he was first a teacher of computer science and then the director of technology for ten years. He attended high school in Lexington, Michigan at Croswell High School. He received his bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University, his masters at Grand Valley State University, and his education specialist degree and PHD at Oakland University. Dr. Richards is a big fan of golf and considers himself a “golf fanatic”. He loves to read, ride his motorcycle, and vacation with his wife and three kids. He and his wife, Paula, met in grade school and were voted homecoming king and queen their senior year. He loved his high school experience and is looking to make future years at Fraser just as great. “I loved high school so much that I could always picture myself becoming a principal,” said Dr. Richards. Dr. Richards considers the best part of being a principal to be interacting with the students. He wants the students to care about what they’re doing and be here because they want to be and not because they have to be. Being a principal he is responsible for a lot of challenges and the needs of everyone. He wants to make high school fun for everyone and is doing his best to accomplish that. “I like just roaming the hallways and having fun talking with the students,” said Dr. Richards, “I want to create a bond like the ones I’ve noticed they’ve made with some of the teachers.” The staff is very focused and caring towards the students, which makes Dr. Richar
