For Daria Pace, the answer begins with understanding where Pilates came from.
Pace is a Level I Grand Master Pilates Teacher Trainer and CEO of Romana’s Pilates International™. She is also the granddaughter of Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates’ most important students and one of the teachers responsible for preserving and continuing his work.
Pilates is not simply a family business for Pace. It is part of the environment in which she grew up.
She began taking ballet and movement classes with her grandmother at just three years old. Long before she understood the significance of the history surrounding her, she was exposed to the people, teaching philosophy and physical discipline that formed part of the original Pilates tradition.
That early connection eventually became a career. After rediscovering Pilates while attending Emerson College, Pace pursued instructor certification and dedicated herself to teaching and training instructors internationally.
Today, she occupies a distinctive position in an industry experiencing explosive growth: she isn't simply studying Pilates history. She inherited a direct connection to one of the people who helped preserve it.
