his year, I did the unexpected and attended my first Burning Man, an annual event where over 70,000 people gather in the middle of the Nevada desert to celebrate art, music, and more. As I scoured over the internet looking for knowledge and inspiration, I stumbled across lifestyle photographer Erin Douglas’, Black Burner Project. As a person of color, I was moved and intrigued by her beautiful images depicting brown people like me enjoying their Burning Man experience. During the “burn”, I joined Erin and almost 300 other melanin-hued souls for her 2nd annual group photo celebrating people of color.
