Traveling with family also made the experience feel different. There were the obvious moments of awe, but there were also the little ones: laughing together in the car, pointing out animals, deciding which trail to explore, sharing snacks, enjoying natural hot springs, getting a little tired and a lot hungry. These were not polished, perfectly planned moments and they were some of the best ones.
It made me think about how we define wellness.
We often make it sound like another thing to accomplish. A morning routine. A workout. A meditation practice. A perfectly organized schedule. But what if wellness can also mean doing something simply because it makes you happy?
What if it means taking the trip?
What if it means making memories with the people you love?
What if it means putting down your phone, looking around and realizing that you are exactly where you want to be?
And, yes, what if it means wearing an outfit that makes you feel fantastic?
Personal style may seem like a small piece of the wellness conversation, but I don't think it is. The way we dress can affect how we move through our day and, more importantly, how we feel in it. When your wardrobe reflects who you are, getting dressed stops feeling like another decision you must make and starts feeling like an opportunity to express yourself.
