Describe your journey within the hospitality industry that led you to wanting to be a restaurateur.
My journey in the hospitality industry really started with my love for food and spending quality time with family. Growing up, meals were always the center of our family gatherings, and I quickly realized that food has this incredible way of bringing people together. That passion led me to a career in catering and then opening our own restaurant, where I got to share that experience with others, crafting beautiful dishes that create lasting memories.
Competition is fierce for restaurants when it comes to enticing Chicagoans to dine in their establishment. Explain your perspective when trying to attract loyal customers.
Chicagoans have so many choices when it comes to dining, so competition for me is a compliment, not a challenge. We all feed each other by getting inspired by other cuisines around us. The more restaurants we have, the better for all of us in Chicago.
At Tala House, we pride ourselves on offering a truly unforgettable culinary experience. Our dishes reflect a modern take on Chicago's melting pot of cultures where we celebrate our diversity and embrace flavors from around the globe. From locally sourced ingredients to unique flavor combinations, be ready to discover Tala’s story: cooking with no boundaries.
Opening a new concept is always exciting but also very challenging. Share your vision before launching Tala House as it relates to its food, vibe, and location.
When I envisioned Tala House, I wanted it to offer Andersonville something that felt both exclusive and familiar; a high-end dining experience that you usually only get downtown, but right here in the neighborhood. At Tala House, we cook with no boundaries, using only the freshest ingredients, locally sourced when possible. I also wanted the vibe to be inviting, modern, and minimalistic, yet cozy, kind of like your favorite upscale spot but with a sense of home. Our patio adds to that charm, giving people a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. The location was perfect because Andersonville has such a vibrant community, and I wanted Tala House to be a part of that.
