Let’s start with the obvious. There is one candidate that is drawing the most criticism in this election and that is Donald Trump. It’s a fact that Mr. Trump has made racists comments about Latinos, Muslims, Blacks, and misogynistic comments against women. He allegedly mocked a disabled news reporter and most recently a video surfaced of him and former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush having a conversation about women where Trump admitted that he likes to grab women in their private area, partly because he felt entitled to do so due to his celebrity. All of the comments that he’s said throughout this election cycle

seem to get thrown under

the rug by his staunch

supporters. I’ve heard

things like, “Well, I don’t

support his comments,

but I support his politics.”

I’ve also seen and heard

people trying to explain

or justify his comments as

not being racist or

misogynistic by saying things

like, “I don’t think Donald

Trump is a racist he just

means….” Well, I’ve got news for

you. Donald Trump is absolutely

a racist, a misogynist, and a thin-

skinned narcissist that has only

known privilege his entire life. Anyone who thinks a one-million-dollar loan (from his father) is small is out of touch with reality and 99% of the country. He cares nothing about his base of poor or middle class supporters and most of them can’t afford to stay in one of his luxury hotels or resorts.

I’m not quite sure how anyone can separate his beliefs and comments from his politics. The two go hand in hand. I was shocked to hear people trying to explain his despicable behavior and racist comments. I played high school, college, and professional football and I’ve never heard anyone in our locker room bragging about grabbing a woman’s kitty cat without her consent. However, there are many people on Facebook that really don’t care and don’t see Trump’s behavior as an issue. I’m shocked by the comments that they post to make excuses for what this man has said and done. I’ve noticed that a lot of folks that make ignorant comments are not minorities, so maybe they just don’t understand. It seems perfectly okay for them

to dismiss his

behavior, because they’ve never had to deal with anything remotely close to what he’s been accused of doing. So until they’re personally affected by Donald Trump’s insults, they really don’t give two shits about anyone else. That leads me to conclude that if you support Donald Trump then you support his racist behavior and views. Period.

Growing up, my mother and father taught my sister and I many important values. One such value was to treat EVERYONE with respect regardless of their race, religion, sex, culture, and sexual orientation. Playing sports allowed me to meet guys from all different walks of life; from the poor inner city black neighborhoods of Detroit to the wealthy white suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. From relaxed beach towns of California to the wet farmlands of the Midwest.
