First of all, it’s the company that matters and the social aspect of it all. My most memorable meals are always defined by the people I’m with. As far as my most memorable food experiences this year.
Any dinner I have ever had at Piccolo Sogno. It’s my go-to Chicago restaurant. The food is always good but Chef/Owner Tony Priolo is one of the kindest, most talented and giving people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
Dinner at Maxwell’s Trading. A West Loop restaurant that has a rooftop garden and trading store. It gives a whole new meaning to farm-to-table and the food is voted one of the best in the country for a reason. I did a great story with them for Fox32Chicago as well.
A Vienna Beef hot dog at their headquarters. I was able to go behind the scenes to learn the history and what makes a Chicago-style hotdog so special. Why are all those ingredients key and how are they tied to the city's neighborhoods and culture? And of course, why you NEVER EVER put ketchup on a Chicago dog.
Amazing fried chicken and southern comfort food at Art Smith’s Reunion restaurant at Navy Pier with his rugby team. Art put out quite the spread to celebrate his new ownership and entertain rugby players from all over the world who were in our city for a tournament.
Esme is a Michelin starred restaurant that has this amazing 3-course tasting menu next door at Bar Esme. It’s a great way to sample a fine dining restaurant at a reasonable price. Chef Jenner Tomaska’s meals are not only delicious, but the presentation is artwork. The prix fixe menu is only 68 dollars and it’s a meal you won’t forget.
El Che Steakhouse.
Chef John Manion
is known for his
Argentinean
steaks.
Thanks to
my foodie
friend
Audarshia
Townsend,
I discovered
the Grilled
Shellfish
Parrillada
platter
that has
shrimp,
scallops,
oysters and lobster. They fill the middle with Papas Fritas, aka french fries, and then if you choose, and I do, it’s drizzled with a house shellfish butter that is totally satisfying and decadent.
