Don’t eat the airplane food. It is generally safe to eat airplane food in most countries, but there is literally zero nutritional value and almost everything is microwaved in plastic or aluminum containers that leak into the food causing countless health issues. I never eat the fruit or raw vegetables and don't generally eat the protein on airplanes. If I have no other choice I will eat cooked vegetables and rice or bread. I suggest planning ahead and buying food at the airport or packing something from home before you get on the plane so that you aren't forced to eat airplane food.
Always pack a power bar or some snacks to avoid eating simply because you're starving or have no other choice. Having a backup option always gives me peace of mind, knowing that I won’t starve if I don’t find good quality food to eat. It will also save you money and time from dining out every time you get hungry.
While it may not be obvious to all, it’s so important to be present while eating. It really doesn't get more simple than that. If you are present, you will notice if your food looks or smells funny before tasting it and, if it doesn't taste right, don't eat it. It’s not worth ruining your trip over eating something questionable. Remember to be adventurous within reason and use your best judgment on everything you eat.
