It is every parent’s goal. To give their children the world, to give them the skills and knowledge they need to be successful human beings. Of course, there are a million and one opinions on how to accomplish this. But, I am not talking about specifics here, I am talking about roots. You can not control every factor of a child’s life; what they like, who they like, or even what sport they play. But you can choose what fuels them.

I spend the majority of my time around children through my cheerleading coaching career. I also spend a lot of my free time around plants, thanks to the wonderful farmers who let me volunteer with them. I have come to the conclusion that much like children, plants are unpredictable. When you plant a seed, there is absolutely no way of knowing how tall or thick it will be, if it will get attacked by grasshoppers, or if it will grow at all. All you can do is give it sunlight, water, and good, organic, nutrient-filled soil. If you do this, you can at least be certain that you have given this seed its best chance of becoming a very successful, deliciously tasting plant. So how do you give your kids the world? You give them good nutrition; you give them the right fuel.
