8.We all need a therapist.

Yes. Yes, we do. I am eternally grateful to the Jungian Therapist my mom introduced me to 18 years ago. I look forward to our conversations and having a safe space to just lose my shit and process it all.

9.Take mental health days.

When I was in grade school, I was a diligent student, to say the least. The amount of pressure I put on myself was not always healthy.

My mom saw that. Takes one to know one, Miss Straight A student, huh? There were days she knew I was at that burnout place, and she’d offer a day off. She’d give me the permission I needed to just hang with her and relax. Revive. Chill. We all need that from time to time. Our energy has limits.

10.Be spiritual.

She may have questioned her faith as a Catholic, but my mom never lost her spirituality.

We would take walks around the lake at our cottage, hold hands and talk deeply about her feelings and beliefs around religion and spirituality. She found great solace in Catholicism growing up and learned how to translate that into deep spirituality. I have carried that on and believe the ancestors of the past are always looking down on us, like in the Lion King. I look up at the star filled sky at the cottage and know, I am not alone.

One day, she will be one of those stars. And she will know how forever grateful I am that I was blessed enough to be HER daughter.
