When viewers watch you on TV for a long period of time you somewhat become part of their nightly routine, share two fun-facts about yourself that would surprise your fans.
This is not surprising to people who know me, but my other passion in life is aviation. I earned my private pilot
certificate when I was 19 and have been flying for fun ever since. Last year I took my son
Henry up for his first flight in a
small plane. We had a blast! I let him hold the controls for a little bit, and he was a total natural. Now he wants me to teach him how to fly, so I’m back in training to become a
commercial pilot and a flight instructor.
A second fun fact is
that I’ve become a
huge fan of motor
sports. I think you’re
noticing speed is a
recurring theme.
Football and
basketball are also
up there for me, but
there is something
about seeing a
machine and a
driver speeding
down a track at 200
miles per hour that
just blows my mind.
I started getting
into Formula 1 with
the rise of Lewis
Hamilton. We even
have an F1 Fantasy
league here at the
news station. I
started checking out
NASCAR a few years
ago. Despite the
rain, I loved seeing
the first street race
here in Chicago. We
did our afternoon
newscast from Grant
Park. Can’t wait for
this summer!
Someday I would
love to get my SCCA
license and take part
in racing events, butI
already have one
expensive hobby.
Two would just be
overkill.
