DC: Art often tells a story from its creator. Explain your thought process when attempting to tell your story through photography.
NB: A great photograph or any piece of art for that matter tells a story, begs a question, or stops you in your tracks and makes you think. As a fashion photographer I approach my work as a portrait photographer and look for the narrative my subject brings to the shoot. Sometimes the theme is obvious and easy to read, for example my subject is an actor starring in a love story and the shoot is for the cover of a magazine. Other times you have to create a story using music, location, weather and of course the clothes. If the story isn’t easy I may have to help provoke a reaction from my subject as even simple feelings like cold, hot, dirty, wet can help the subject relate and give them something tangible to work with.
