meet someone that is
passionate about their
profession. Most people work within an industry or in a job that doesn’t truly fulfill them, but the “golden handcuffs” keeps them there. I often pose this question to my friends and acquaintances that are looking for a professional change, “If money wasn’t an option, what would you do?” Nigel Barker seems to have found his passion years ago when he pivoted from traveling the world as a model to becoming an well-known international award-winning photographer. He was able to parlay his talent into a successful 17 season run as a photographer and judge on the hit reality series America’s Next Top Model with Tyra Banks, and has also authored two books, produced films, and is involved with many charitable organizations. Barker was tapped as the Creative Director at 21c Museum Hotel in Chicago which just opened their new art exhibit in March. I met up with Nigel at the exhibition and was excited to learn more about his background, career, creative processes, and inspiration for art.
