Artisan Alex Jaynes @ajayneswoodworks proudly showed us how he made many pieces of furniture populated throughout the Marriott Knoxville hotel and we connected with couturier Marc Nelson @marcnelsondenim who designed the whisky-stained denim aprons worn by the servers in the hotel’s restaurant.
The culture of artistry is thriving and supported by the city and its business strategy. Alex Jaynes actually sits on the city council and helps advise how to best integrate local artists and art into the culture and share the commercial success within the community. It’s a win-win proposition and the Marriott is an example of this partnership. Soon the hotel gift shop will open and offer curated selections from local artisans for sale to further connect the locals.
This sweet proud little town trying its best to preserve culture and we think they’re making it work!
