Doesn’t everyone love to “get away”, to escape our daily obligations and ditch our everyday lifestyles? Yet that doesn’t mean we have to break away from being healthy! We can create an on-the-go awareness of health while we are on the road or flying through the skies! Here are some tricks I have acquired along my travels:

Prepare yourself and pack snacks! Not all fast food has to come out of the Golden Arches. I find that I can get more variety of food by going to grocery stores and mini markets and it is also less expensive than what I would be paying for a meal at a fast food joint. My favorite marketplaces while traveling are fruit markets. My mouth waters just remembering the succulent pineapple slices being sold as I walked down the streets of Cartagena, Colombia.

There are many times our destination route can have a few bumps and unexpected turns, so having some healthy snacks can also save you from that not so pleasant “hangry” mood (hungry and angry). Keep it simple: nuts, dried or fresh fruit, raw veggies, plantain chips; there are loads of healthier options out there.
