I was always an avid reader and writer as a kid and majored in English in college, but I only considered journalism as a back-up job if my dream of becoming an actress and comedian didn’t work out. I moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of eventually making it to Saturday Night Live and, while taking a class in TV hosting, a teacher mentioned that I seemed quite natural and knowledgeable hosting a fake Chicago Bears show to practice teases and throwing to break. Despite being a lifelong athlete and Division 1 track and field competitor, no one had ever suggested that I might like to work in sports. After that class I pivoted, fell in love with sports journalism and never looked back.
