t’s an
understatement to
say that women’s
sports have blown up over the last few months. Women are finally getting their long overdue attention for their excellence in playing sports. The 2024 Women’s NCAA tournament final was the most watched game in women’s NCAA basketball history and for the first time that I could remember, a lot of men, including my buddies and I, were more interested in watching the women’s tournament versus the men’s. It crazy to think that millions of sports fans across the country suddenly discovered the skill, passion, grit, determination and competition that the women have been bringing to the game for ages, just like their male counterparts, but at the same time realizing that they have been missing out on something special. With the summer Olympics just around the corner we know that all eyes will be on the men’s USA Olympic basketball team, but there will be an equal amount of interest, if not more, on the women’s Olympic basketball team as well.
While women’s sports are blowing up on all levels, female sports journalist are now household names too. We value their analysis and take on sports and sports figures as they spar with their male counterparts on sports topics ranging from football to boxing, basketball and soccer. They’ve earned their seat at the table because of their work and credibility, and no one is in

conversation than Sarah Spain.
Sarah is a dynamic and influential figure in sports journalism and her journey is as impressive as her insights. A former Division 1 heptathlete, Spain discovered her true calling off the field, shaping the landscape of sports media. With an Ivy League education and a degree in English from Cornell University, she has spent two decades in the industry, notably with ESPN.
Now, she embarks on new
ventures with a podcast and a
book in the works, continuing to amplify women's sports—a movement gaining momentum with stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese from the WNBA. Known for her quick wit and humor, Sarah’s sharp personality ensures she commands respect. Beyond her professional life, she is a dedicated wife and a proud mom to three dogs.
