the temptation to revert to old ways, to do what’s comfortable. Our training session is an hour in which we say “F” that. This is my body, I will tell you (body) what to do, you will not tell me.

Everyone needs to be strong; everyone needs to be conditioned, everyone needs mobility, everyone needs lean muscle for longevity in life. But what we need the most is discipline and self-control, that’s the muscle we train the most.

DC: What 3 things most inspire you and what are your professional goals in the next five years?

KH: I’m inspired most by Jesus, His life, His ways, His heart, His love for people, His faith, His ability to suffer and endure, everything about Him inspires me daily.

Second, my wife. She has the most integrity of any person I’ve ever met, she does not look to be seen or need any validation or credit for

anything, she is a woman of principle and justice.

Third, greatness. Tom Brady, Picasso, Jackson Pollock, John Coltrane, Mark Rothko, Barrnet Newman, Michael Jordan, Shaq, Nadal, Deion Sanders, and all the everyday great folks that I work with. I am inspired most by those who understand how difficult how strenuous it is to live well, and to be excellent in their craft.

My goals for the next 5 years; to make Kofi Hughes Training a premier management

company for commercial and residential buildings in Chicago, providing the best training and environment.

To help Athletes They Fear fundraise $5,000,000 (covers our initiative for 4 years) and build the first ever Greenhouse for the next generation of athletes on the Southside of Chicago that gives them a safe space to dwell 20 hours a week, free sports performance

training, free meals every day, and free education and mentorship from Chicago’s top leaders, executives, artists, and developers. Send 150 athletes to college on full ride scholarships.
