I have people asking me all the time, What do you think of the _____ diet? I've been trying it out and... (It usually ends up with them telling me it really didn't work out.)

But no matter what the diet plan, my response is almost always the same, How is your energy while doing it?

“Every diet out there can work for someone. They all boil down to cutting out the garbage, and following the rules of that diet. But are those rules SUSTAINABLE??

If you feel great doing it, continue doing it. If you feel like you hate yourself, your life, and you want to pull your hair out, then stop.

“So besides trying to follow the exact rules of the diets, I think everyone just needs to simplify their eating HABITS.

“Change your HABITS. Implement actions that are SUSTAINABLE. And this will create LASTING RESULTS.

“So I would like to provide you with 3 quick tips to help you change your eating habits, that will in return, give you summer happiness.

1. Use your LUNCH PLATES at home, instead of the dinner plates. (Why does dinner get to have all the attention anyway?) This will help you to keep your meals smaller, especially at "dinner" time, when most people eat WAYYYYYY too much food, and then sit down for a few hours, before laying down for another 6-8 hours. Enough is enough! Your body can't digest the amount of food efficiently when eating so much in one sitting, and then being so sedentary afterwards.

2. Make and eat all your meals at HOME. Give it a go for 2-3 weeks straight. How often do you fry your own foods at home? How often do you whip up a cheesecake? I'm sure it’s not too often, anyway. Making your own meals and eating them at home will keep you away from the restaurants that load foods with tons of salt, butter, and sugar.

3. Set a timer for your meals (that you are now eating at HOME, with your LUNCH PLATES). Try to make that one plateful/meal last 10-15 min, (and going up for seconds doesn't count toward your set time!) This will help teach you to eat SLOWER. Our bodies need time to digest our food. And most times our mind-body connection can't keep up with super-fast way of eating. Once your brain has registered that you are full, you have already over eaten. Try it out, it might not be harder than you think!

4. Keep it Real, Yo! Try to think of what the earth has provided us with.... veggies, fruits, plants, animals (if you believe in that), and even grains. If it is in a box, a bag, or in the middle of the grocery store, don't eat it. Your body wants quality nutrients that it can use. So eat a lot of foods that need to be refrigerated most times, or foods that will go bad in a few days.

“Using these new habits might be tough to implement at first. But they can become a LIFESTYLE. Use them, be healthier and happier, and live that Fit Life!”
