First, Be Realistic. If you want to lose weight, know exactly what you want your weight to be by summer and/or by the end of the year. Then, figure out how much weight you need to lose each month. Once you know that, decide which things you need to change within your diet and exercise regimen. Put these into monthly goals. For example, January would be the month to cut back on your sugar intake by eliminating it altogether from your coffee routine. Or, you may decide to stop drinking soda and eating cookies. Whatever your goal may be for you make it realistic. Exercise may start at 30 minutes three times a week and once you accomplished that goal, then you may increase your exercise time to one hour three times a week. Then in February you may add one more thing to your diet, such as the

largest portion on your plate must be vegetables. Again, this depends on your personal goals and current health condition. If you have multiple goals, only add one per

month or every other month.

Second, Stop Making Excuses and

Blaming Others. You are solely responsible for your life. Every person on this earth has 24-hours in a day. Every person on this earth

makes time for their priorities. If you don’t do something, the simple reason is it's not a priority. Plain and simple. For those of you who are thinking of why you don’t have time

right now… well, you will never be

successful at reaching any goal that

you set and should stop wasting your time reading this, because you’re not going to do whatever you need to do to reach them. You say you have goals, but you really don’t. I don’t care if you are tired. Successful people don’t sleep 8-10 hours a day. People who are saving money for something they want aren’t going out every weekend for dinner and partying in clubs. They are saving their money. People who want to lose weight are not eating chocolate cake or cheese cake even if it is their best friend’s birthday, then go to a dinner party the next night, then skip exercising because they drank too much and don’t want to go. They want to do these things, but they don’t. Stop making excuses and take responsibility for your own actions.

Let’s be honest, not every resolution we make or goal we plan is going to work out perfectly. Occasionally things happen. Occasionally, however, is not on a regular basis. When things happen, and we slip up or have to deal with something (again, occasionally, not regularly) the important thing is to get right back on track the next the day. You’re not going to be healthy for life if you exercise a couple of times and eat a few salads. Likewise, you’re not going to be completely unhealthy and fail to reach your goal for the occasional time you have a treat or miss exercising. It will, however, take you longer to reach your goal. You

won’t learn a new language by taking five classes and you won’t not learn if you miss one.

Set realistic goals and stepping stones to get to those goals. Take complete responsibility for your actions and if you slip up, get back on track as soon as possible. I hope everyone has a fabulous 2019.
