Beyond the gate,
guests enter this
otherworldly
universe filled
with calmness
and tranquility.
It really is a day
in the park here,
your very own
private secluded
park. The
grounds have a
glistening
swimming pool,
tennis court,
Pétanque, fitness
room, hammam,
massage room,
and electric bikes.
My favorite detail
in the manor house is the winding staircase that is like a work of art. All 14 Mansion/Manor House guest rooms have fireplaces, fresh flowers and scented candles. The Chapel on the property was turned into another two-bedroom guest house. Additionally, there is the Cypress Farmhouse with three suites and a loft plus the Wash House, “Le Lavoir,” a duplex mixing modern and rustic.
The Mansion/Manor House has a cozy bar for aperitifs or digestifs where guests can sit in comfy Corbusier armchairs. Meals can be enjoyed indoors or alfresco on the terrace under the plane trees or poolside. They are artistically prepared with a variety of Provence flavors for a culinary journey by Chef Mathias Bettingerand and Agustin Ontivero. Chateau des Alpilles is also a perfect place for a destination wedding in this romantic setting.
I took one afternoon to explore Saint Remy and absolutely fell in love with it, filled with so many cute shops run by friendly proprietors. I managed to do a bit of souvenir shopping and had a nice glass of rose at the lively, bohemian Le Bistrot les Pieds dans l’eau on Boulevard Victor Hugo full of locals and tourists alike.
