when planning rooms that are to be calming, quiet, and reflective vs. energizing, loud, and engaging. Placing proper textiles is key to this type of planning. Upholstered wall panels or hang heavy drapery in a room help drown out the noise, while hard and smooth surfaces help reflect it. Triggering one’s sense of smell is also crucial. Lavender and jasmine are notorious scents to calm the soul and relieve stress. There are so many decorative items you can use to incorporate the sense of smell; think candles, diffusers, fresh flowers, and more.
At the very end of an install and before our big reveal to our clients we make sure all the scented candles are lit and to always place fresh floral arrangements. This little finishing touch makes a big impact when they walk
through their new space for the first time. We want our clients to feel the love we put into their home through all the senses we were gifted with. When they walk throughout the home for the first time, we want them to engage with it, run their fingers across the new sofa and the throw, hear the subtle music that adds extra ambiance, and smell the fresh scent of their new home. Perhaps we should start leaving some bottles of champagne or fresh cookies so they can taste the love we put into their home too! Regardless of your style, homes should be designed to be loved and feel the love.
