The month of hearts and romance is upon us! In the face of the current political climate in the United States and around the globe, it is wildly apparent to me that love is more important than ever. This as an invitation to open your minds and hearts to the possibility of practicing love with those that may be challenging to love. This might be a group of people who you have preconceived ideas about but have limited experience with, or even someone who has wronged you or let you down. According to the Dali Lama, people who have harmed us or have been a challenge for us to love are our “sacred friends.” This is because these people offer us the opportunity to grow. Imagine for a moment what our world might be like, if we all approached differences with love as opposed to rejection and fear. One thing that I have seen over and over again in my work with both my coaching and therapy clients, is that when we make it a point to act more loving, we bring more love into our lives.
