or many women,
finding the
perfect outfit
means balancing comfort, confidence, and practicality. But for entrepreneur Anika McKelvey, the search for the ideal travel piece became the inspiration for an entirely new approach to fashion.
The founder of LAS Loungewear, a Miami-based apparel brand, set out to create something she couldn’t find: a stylish hoodie that was comfortable enough to sleep in during a long flight, yet polished enough to wear through the airport and beyond.
What began as a personal need became a mission to create clothing designed around real life.
“I wanted something that could make traveling easier, something comfortable enough for the journey but still made me feel put together,” says McKelvey. “As I developed the brand, I realized women were looking for much more than travel clothing. They wanted pieces that could support them throughout their entire day.”
Unlike many designers who enter the industry through fashion school or years of technical training, McKelvey’s path was unconventional.
She had no formal fashion design background and did not know how to sew when she began developing LAS Loungewear. Instead, she brought years of entrepreneurial experience, curiosity, and a passion for solving problems.
