Fete Lifestyle Magazine August 2026 - The Transition Issue | Page 48

The August issue is all about transition. Your work often begins when someone is ready for a fresh start. What are some of the biggest life transitions you’ve helped clients navigate through their homes?

We’ve helped people through just about every stage of life. From first apartments and first homes to newly married couples and growing families that need more space. A lot of times, people come to us because they’re entering a new chapter or moving, and their space needs to reflect that.

Every room tells a story. When you walk into a space for the first time, what helps you determine what needs to stay, what needs to go, and how the room should evolve into its next chapter?

Since we mainly focus on upholstery, specifically couches, the first thing we do is ask questions. Are you looking for a sofa or sectional? What dimensions are you looking for? How do you use the room? Do you have kids or pets? Are you watching TV every night, or are you just trying to make the room look nice? Once we understand what someone is looking for, it’s a lot easier to recommend furniture that makes sense. Our goal is to help people find the right furniture for their needs and space.

You’re both full-time firefighter-paramedics while also running a successful furniture business. How did the Couch Brothers begin, and in what ways has your experience as a firefighter influenced the way you approach your business?

We initially started by flipping couches during the pandemic as a side hustle, and it just kept growing. Being firefighters has definitely shaped how we run our business. We strive to provide the best customer service possible, and we make sure we communicate with each customer from the time they initially reach out to us until the couch is delivered to their home.

Many people struggle with letting go. What advice do you have for someone who’s ready for a change but isn’t sure where to start?

Furniture shopping can be overwhelming, which is why we are open by appointment only. When you visit our showroom, you are the only customer in the store, which means we can give you our undivided attention and answer any questions or

concerns you

may have. The

couch is the

center of your

living room, so

it can be a

difficult thing

to decide on,

but once that’s

updated,

everything

else tends to

start falling

into place. You

don’t have to

remodel your

entire house

to make it feel

like a

completely

different

home.
