’m constantly asked about my thoughts on being a personal stylist, owning my own business, and what has helped me stay true to myself reaching my ultimate business goals over the years, so I want to answer questions that I most often asked and share my thoughts on being a stylist.

My style philosophy?

I have always believed that confidence and comfort are the best outfit makers. My goal as a personal stylist is to help my clients not only look but most importantly FEEL beautiful! If you feel good in what you're wearing when you walk out the door that will instantly translate to everyone around you and bring positive energy your way throughout the day. I absolutely love helping my clients build their confidence by helping them to find what their own unique style is!

What makes me feel confident?

When it comes to confidence comfort is key for me. Things that make me feel confident include: surrounding myself with friends where I can be myself, always over-preparing for my clients, continuing to nurture relationships and collaborations with other entrepreneurs, and wearing clothing that I feel good in!

A fashion related change I would like to see in the world?

I pride my business in styling clients with pieces from Chicago boutiques and local designers before all else. I would love to see a continual movement towards shopping local. There is something so special about knowing who and where your garment/accessories were made.

Five secrets I wish I would have known before I started my styling business.

1. Success Doesn’t Happen Over Night: Someone told me when I first started my business that on average it takes 5 years for a new business to begin making an income. Having this in mind set me up for success, helped me plan ahead and to not get discouraged

2. Never get too comfortable: I believe it’s important to always be setting new goals to reach. Every year I make sure to set a major business goal and there hasn’t been a year that passes that I haven’t reached that goal. It keeps me pushing myself and also helps me to focus on what is important when setting those goals.

3. Learn from the inside out: Working side jobs in the same industry as your business is a great way to make supplemental income while continuing your education. I did this when I started my business and it helped me to hone in on my skills and speciality that separated me from the competition.

4. Figure out what it is that makes you happy: If you can build your career around your happiness you are one of the lucky ones. As long as you are striving for an ultimate goal that makes you happy you will work your butt off to make it happen.

5. Always grow from your mistakes. There will be trouble along the way, but as long as you take a mental note of what you can do to prevent it in the future you’re always moving forward!
