Sometimes being the youngest member on a team could be taxing and a bit overwhelming for an athlete. Not so much for Charles Conwell though. The nineteen-year-old, 5’ 9”, 165 lb. Middleweight from Cleveland, Ohio is the youngest member of the 2016 USA Olympic Team, but he credits his maturity and focus for a lot of his success. Charles is the second youngest out of nine siblings and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School three months after making the Olympic Team. Although he did not set out to be a boxer as young kid, his Dad’s introduction to the sport made him think otherwise and soon thereafter he was competing and winning all around the world. I had the chance to speak with Charles, just as he was (literally) boarding the airplane to Rio with other Olympic athletes.
