Next up is the “Spotlight” category which offers a wonderful treasure from New Zealand by Taika Waititi called “Hunt for the Wilderpeople.” It’s a story of an unusual orphan and his gruff and grouchy guardian as they figure out their future. It’s a touchingly comedic story that will bring you to tears while you belly-laugh.

In the “Shorts” category is “Shok,” one of the most emotionally loaded 20 minutes you can imagine. The dangers and uncertainty during war are seen through the eyes of two young boys. On the lighter side, you could see Danny DeVito’s in “Curmudgeons.”

Have no fear, horror flicks are found at TFF too. “Fear, Inc.” appears to be reminiscent of “Total Recall” as a fantasy request company allows its patrons to live out their ultimate fright. With blurred lines of reality, life becomes a real nightmare.

The “Narratives” category is home to features films, frequently with a star-studded cast. Not only do you have a chance to see stars walking the red carpet, but you can also participate in asking questions of these stars following the film. A film from the U.S., “Folk Hero & Funny Guy” starring Wyatt Russell and Alex Karpovsky, is a promising road trip movie graced by a bit of music. Jason Sudeikis is back at TFF with “The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” co-starring Jessica Biel. And on a less serious note, comedian Mike Birbiglia’s film “Don’t Think Twice” promises to get the audience roaring with laughter.
