But guess what? Even though we don’t NEED you … we still WANT you! We want you because we love it when you show up and make us laugh. We love when you remember the exact moment we met and recreate the scene on an anniversary. We love it when you carry things for us, including carrying us. We love when you show up when things get tough. We admire when you raise your children with strong leadership and integrity and show up for their needs. We appreciate when you accompany us to events you don’t necessarily want to attend. It melts us when you make us feel beautiful with a glance or complimentary word. But most of all we want you to make us feel safe, like nothing bad will happen when you wrap your arms around us as this is one of our basic needs. We feel comforted when our heads rest on your strong and stable shoulders. We want you to simply be with us, giving us quality time, reminding us we are in this life together. When we have your undivided attention, letting us know we matter to you, that is what matters most.
And guess what? While we don’t even need you to have a baby, we still want to practice trying. We want you to make love to us and set the world on fire with the passion you bring and that we can create together.

In our quest for well-deserved equality, something unexpected happened. We’ve taken the wind out of men’s sails. We spent so much time becoming the man that we claim to long for, we've left no room for a man to actually "be a man." And without us to take care of, they've lost their purpose. At a recent workshop I attended, entitled “Harnessing the Feminine Power Within,” the leader shared her and many other's philosophy that feminism has essentially castrated men. One of man’s innate needs is to is protect us - provide food, shelter and safety. And no matter how many barriers we cross as women, we still are nurturers at heart.
