A good friend of mine told me this story recently. One day he was sitting outside a coffee shop and noticed two birds, one female and one male. Clearly spring was in the air and the birds soon became tangled in the ritual of mating. No surprises there. However, after a few seconds doing the deed the male bird flew away and he decides to "post-up" on top of an empty chair on the table adjacent to my friend. However, his female companion flew away in the opposite direction.

Only after a couple of minutes, the male bird spots another female bird. As previously noted, spring is in the air, and the male bird proceeds to jump onto her as well. However, this female bird attempted to get away and flew into the street, and of course the male bird followed. He finally catches up and proceeds to mount her. While they are entangled in the age old ritual of love making, the traffic light changes and oncoming traffic is barreling towards the birds. The female bird recognized the danger and flew away at the last minute, but the male bird, so caught up, does not react in time and gets obliterated (feathers everywhere) by an on-coming car.

Does that story about these birds correlate to humans? Particularly males? This story begs the question. Are men ever satisfied with just one mate? Are we so focused on the chase that we become oblivious to the consequences? The saying goes that sex makes men do crazy things regardless of the consequences. Is it true? Well, I wanted to get to the bottom of this and find out the truth about what makes a men become unfaithful. To get answers, I asked men that were either single, married, or in a committed relationship to give me their perspective on why men stray. For the record, not all men have been unfaithful in their relationships and chances are that your man has not stepped out on you. But most all men know at least one person that has strayed for one reason or another.
