The Beautiful Yellow Flower: Ylang Ylang

This essential oil is known to elicit strong feelings of sexual energy and romance with its soothing, slightly spicy, floral fragrance. It is a custom in some countries to spread the ylang ylang flowers on the bed of the newly married couple. This potent aphrodisiac is also a wonderful, relaxing massage oil for the scalp, with many women using it to promote healthy hair growth. You can also add drops of this oil to your hair conditioner and use it in coconut oil for your beauty rituals.

To permeate the bedroom with a scented love potion, prepare a spray bottle with 4 oz. distilled water, 1 - 2 squirts of glycerin (glycerin is used to help disperse the oil/water mixture) and 5 - 8 drops of ylang ylang oil for a perfect diffuser spray. Ayurvedic practitioners also tout this as a wonderful oil for self-massage to bring us back into feel-good balance. Just taking a whiff of this oil straight from the bottle can lift your mood!

NOTE: I never use metal containers when mixing and storing my essential oils. I buy the best plastic containers/bottles available or use glass jars.
