Santa helped Hereford Lions Club over the Festive period raise
£11,000 for its charity fund which will be used to support local
community projects and charities. The most successful fund
raiser was Santa’s Grotto which had moved to Oakchurch
country store at Staunton on Wye raising over £3,000 from a
raffle for a super
market trolley full
of
Christmas
presents, and a
£2,000
con-
tribution
from
Barclays Bank.
The star prize was
won by Mrs Ruth
Morgan of Hewitt
Avenue, Hereford
whose
great
grandson Jack had
a lot more presents
than he expected.
Generous families
taking
their
children to see
Santa
added a
further £3,000 in
donations.
Meanwhile, the
traditional Lions
Santa Sleigh tour of the city and nearby villages every evening
in December giving thousands of children the opportunity to tell
Santa what presents they would like for Christmas raised a
further £3,000 in donations.
Said team leader John Edmunds: “The move to Oakchurch
was a huge success and we are grateful to the Price family for
their support and especially to all the families who turned out
to see Santa and were so generous with their donations.”
This Christmas Santa will be welcoming everyone into a super
new snow covered Log Cabin built specially for him by the nice
people at Oakchurch
