Costa Coffee Hereford city centre now has more coffee shops than pubs – and new one is about to open in an empty shop next to Lloyds Bank in High Town. Meanwhile, one of the centre’s most historic pubs, The Booth Hall is closed and unlikely ever to served a pint of beer again. It was a victim of the Boxing Day fire in High Town five years ago which resulted in the alley opposite the Old House leading to the Booth in East Street being blocked and leaving the pub isolated The coffee shop seeking permission from planners to set up in High Town also want to have tables and chairs out on the pavement right next to the Coffee Cart which will not only create more clutter in the square but block the flow of pedestrians.
