High jinks in Liverpool for the group
ACTING MAKES A DIFFERENCE FOR THIS GROUP
They might have learning difficulties but the members of About Face Theatre based in Leominster know how to put on a good show and volunteer Lions Club minibus drivers , Mike Hughes and Basil Paterson were highly impressed when they took the group on a special theatre outing to Liverpool . So the Editor asked Jess MacKenzie to tell readers about her drama group .
About Face Theatre has been working with people with learning disabilities for more that 21 years . We are one of ECHO ’ s project and are open 5 days a week providing training and theatre experience for about 25 people . The main touring company devise all their own shows and take these out to schools , theatres , festivals and anywhere we are invited both locally and across the country . Our aim is to change peoples perception and attitudes by producing original thought provoking work . Of course the other side of the coin we also make a difference to those people who come to us . Theatre teaches skills , grows confidence , which in turn increases
A CRISPY DEAL
Women rugby players will be training on crisps this season . Herefordshire ’ s famous world export Tyrrells Crisps is the new sponsor of the Women ’ s top rugby league in a deal with the RFU . The Tyrrells Premier 15 ’ s has 10 teams competing . The brand is also the ‘ official crisps ’ of the Women ’ s England Rugby team and the exclusive supplier of crisps to the Twickenham stadium .
Tyrrells , based just outside Leominster is not telling us what the sponsorship is costing them but with the RFU investing several million £ promoting women ’ s rugby it must amount to one hell of a lot of bags of crisps .

The other groups include a introductory group , a theatre skills group and also we have a fun drama group . We hope to provide a group for whoever has a passion for drama and be able to support anyone whatever their ability .
The trip to Liverpool was to see a theatre company that use projection and film in their work . We are constantly looking at new ways to tell our stories so whilst see a show is entertaining , the point of our visit was training . We all attended a workshop led by the actors in the play who explained some of their techniques used in the show . We are going to try out an idea we saw with one of the groups as part of a course we will be delivering next week . This would not have been possible without the support of The Hereford Lions as travel cost are prohibitive . Everyone loved the day out , much singing and laughter filled the minibus , although some of the jokes made were dubious .
