WELCOME TO THE ELK VALLEY THIS FALL

Life in the Elk Valley goes with the flow . Bask in the fall sunshine , enjoy the fresh air and beautiful open spaces . Stroll through downtown Fernie and Sparwood with self-guided walking tours visiting heritage locations , art installations , galleries and attractions . Relax on a patio or in a welcoming bar or restaurant or explore our many parks , forests and riverside walks to enjoy the spectacular seasonal changes .
For September , new restrictions are in place for a temporary period . Masks are required in all indoor spaces , and numbers are restricted for public events , both indoor and outdoor . Restrictions may be extended into the fall . Proof of vaccination will be required from September 13 to attend many indoor spaces and places that are not considered essential , such as restaurants and museums . This requirement is expected to be in place until at least the winter .
While events had slowly begun to return throughout the summer , these new restrictions may affect some scheduled programs . Live entertainment has started to return to the calendar including live music at Loaf on select Fridays , and Scalawag at the Kodiak Lounge on October 3rd . The Reel Canadian Film Festival hosts a special screening of award winning film ‘ Beans ’ at the Vogue Theatre on October 23 , and Fernie Heritage Library brings back ‘ Booked - Fernie Writers ’ Series ’ on October 28 featuring Jon Turk .
The following popular events were expected to return to Fernie in September and were in planning mode at the time of going to press . Alterations to the anticipated format and lineup may be required , please see event websites or social media for details as new regulations come into effect .
