Kelly Siskind
After a successful career as a chef and entrepreneur in the fine cheese and wine industry, Kelly Siskind was ready for a new adventure. Exploring the interior of British Columbia with her husband, the couple found space and adventure in the beautiful mountain town of Fernie. The friendly vibe captured their imaginations and hearts, and they made the move permanent in 2023.
Siskind plays guitar, paints, and is an obsessive reader. Her love of books gradually evolved into a love of writing, which began with a few attempts at completed works and a few rejections. Her third book was entered into a writing contest on Twitter, which matched her with a mentor. Together, they reviewed and reworked her first book, which was then published in 2016, and she now has three unique series in print featuring over a dozen titles. Her biggest sellers, the Showmen Series, are quirky, offbeat, slow-burning romances. While each book is an independent story, keen readers will enjoy occasional easter eggs – hidden references to other books within the series.
In an unusual move, her Bower Boys series is mostly from the male perspective – an interesting twist on the typical romance novel.
Raising the temperature further, the One Wild Wish series features spicy open-door romance with real-life scenarios. Talking about her vision when writing, she explains‘ Romance has to have a happily-ever after. It gives people a little control back by making them feel good.’
Her latest novel- New Orleans Rush, is a great fall read. Loosely inspired by the Carrie Underwood song,‘ Before He Cheats,’ about keying the wrong man’ s car, it leads the reader on a challenging romp through the magical streets of New Orleans.
Currently working on a Young Adult fantasy, she has also dabbled in women’ s fiction and hosts writing workshops at the Fernie Heritage Library. She was a guest speaker at a literary conference in Calgary, and offers editing and mentoring services for emerging authors.
