Fernie’ s heritage and history hub featuring two floors of exhibits, a gift shop, visitor information and historical research services.
TRITES AND WOOD MUSEUM GIFT SHOP
The museum gift shop features a curated selection of items inspired directly by the museum’ s collection, and life in Fernie. Products include a range of books featuring local and Canadian history, and gifts including toys, jewellery and souvenirs inspired by the local landscape. Local artwork is also available including textiles from master spinner Gayle Vallance, wood crafts and magnets from Wild Wolves Designs, and cards and prints from local artists including Michael Hepher and Melanie MacVoy.

MAIN FLOOR EXHIBIT
This is Our Fernie explores the legends and myths, fires and mining disasters, and stories of commercial, sporting, and community life over the past 125 + years. Engaging displays include a timeline, artifacts, digital kiosks, and discovery items for kids.
PROGRAMMING & EVENTS
Opening in the gallery June 21: Into the Archives – examining the Crowsnest Coal Company Archives that have been locked away in the basement of City Hall for decades.
Guided Historical Walking Tours every Saturday & Sunday in July & August with Lindsay Vallance – plus NEW! Historical Hotel Tour on Friday evenings – bookings required for all tours – contact the Museum for details.
The Great Elk Valley History Hike. A self-guided historical scavenger hunt with locked boxes hidden around Fernie to find and open. All participants who complete the tour will win a prize.
