On May 7th and 8th, the research group in fermentations (NEFER) promoted the 4th Cycle of Lectures on Microbiology at UFLA. The event, which is aimed at the academic community, undergraduate and graduate students, and professionals in the field of study, was attended by 91 participants. The purpose of the Lecture Cycle is to promote the updating, reflection, and critical scientific development on current fermentation themes.
Guest speakers included professors and postdoctoral students from the Federal University of Lavras. Several topics were presented referring to the lines of research developed by NEFER providing the discussion of relevant subjects on microbial fermentation.
On the first day, the theme was “Fermentation” and the topics covered in the lectures were: “Coffee Fermentation”, lecturer Professor PhD. Rosane Schwan; “Functional Fermented Foods”, Professor Dr. Michel Cardoso, and “Microorganisms in Foods and Waste”, roundtable mediated by PhD. Professors Andreza Santiago, Carla Ávila and Joyce Dória. On the second day, whose theme was entitled “What's New in Microbiology”, the following lectures were presented: “Why Science Needs Good Communicators”, Professor PhD.
