The installation of three Velux VCE 2004 3030 (775
x 775 mm) flat roof skylights into a two degree pitch
trimdek roof significantly brightens up a very dark area
towards the back of the showroom. The VCE model is
electrically openable and is operated using a remote
control that can be programmed to work simultaneously
or individually. Other features include solar powered block
out blinds, flyscreens and a rain sensor that automatically
closes the skylights.
To effectively transmit the maximum amount of daylight
into the showroom below, a single gyprock light
shaft connects into the suspended ceiling grid. Small
bulkheads between the skylights also assist in spreading
the light further and demonstrates to Salt’s customers
how skylights can be used to add daylight in a ‘real life’
situation.
JUDGES’ COMMENTS
These skylights provide excellent light as well as
ventilation to highlight the interior of this kitchen and
bathroom showroom.
