2. CONCEPT
Continuing with 3D
experimentation at 1:50, I created
a cardboard model of the space
and began to take away sections
of the structure, creating large
apertures in different facades
of the space, these apertures
could represent possible window
positioning, as the building
stands the 2 side facades each
only have very small windows
closing of the occupants view of
the surrounding environment. I
used Red card to begin to create
similar additional spaces to
those in the previous model, this
time giving the additional shapes
purposes that will feature in
the finalised configuration. I
imagined the red box that slots
into the roof as the hotel space
for dogs needing a place to stay
overnight. And the side space,
which extends the buildings
existing triangular space, I
imagined to be a separate
entrance for dog walkers, who
may need to wash or dry their
dogs before they can enter the
space.
I created blocks that represent
key features of the building
in the scale 1: 50 to allow an
understanding of scale and
how the spaces can be utilised,
modelling a WC and Lift in the
main space (Figure 46 ) and
in the dog room, measuring the
size of a standard dog bath and
the space that would need to be
in place between each one for
ease of use (Figure 47).
