Eternal Sovereigns
What a great week for Eternal Sovereigns; showing the region how it's done is, in essence, becoming second nature. Speaking of nature, Abbie experienced her first naked potential sponsor...who did not deem it inappropriate to answer the door bearing his masculinity but unfortunately it did prevent him from having anywhere suitably flat. Although she politely asked him to 'pop some pants on' he didn't take well to her fashion advice and responded by slamming the door. Also adding to our agglomeration of door to door memories is new fundraiser Yousuf's incident with a maniac who threatened to let his dog at him! Fortunately he made a quick escape, similar to the speed at which he and fellow new fundraiser Joanne have been picking up shows and sponsors this weekend! Eternal Sovereigns are looking forward to the week to come, and also their meal ... Courtesy of Champions Life Academy, for winning last weeks Come Dine with Me competition!
Alpha Pioneers
This week the alpha pioneers have been pioneering our way through Coventry, signing up locals, left right and centre. We also ventured into the innnnn-credibly named Rugby but fortunately too much LTD signing was occurring for any Rugby to be actually played! Fatema and Joe obtained a wonderful insight into the world of RNIB through a lady they met who had volunteered for the RNIB for 10 years. She gave them lots of local knowledge about the work that had happening around the area which led to a fantastic third person story. Sarah did a show in a kids tent which is obviously the way to do it as she only went and signed them up! Classic Joe was thought to be an optician and got invited in by someone who was clearly hoping for an eye diagnosis. Joe tied this in wonderfully with the ECLO project which the guy was very interested in. Sarah’s taken running between doors to a whole new level with the purchase of a new pair of running leggings. Tash signed up a builder who’s flat surface was a couple of paint cans. Nothing quite like doing a show sat on a dust sheet with the smell of paint and Capital softly playing in the air. With this new wonderful hot weather, our training has been moved to the local park, just down the road from the house. This worked really well for us all with our projects being improved dramatically post training! This week both Tash and Eva have gained themselves some free food from people very thankful to have learnt all about Action for Blind People. The jam has dramatically improved toast and Eva’s potatoes were enjoyed by all in chip form post the week’s night out. The end of the week was fantastically rounded off by a pioneering karaoke performance of ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams, the only unfortunate side of it being that it might have been in a gay bar...Stay tuned for more exciting pioneering stories next week!
