Asbestos Awareness

Learn how to safely and effectively identify and work with asbestos .

Asbestos has been used in many materials produced for building or home construction . If materials are broken , crushed , or disturbed , the asbestos fibers may be released into the air and become a health hazard . High exposures to asbestos may occur during demolition and rebuilding .

Exposure to asbestos is a risk factor for developing disabling and deadly lung diseases years after the exposure . This Asbestos Awareness course provides students with an understanding of the harmful effects of asbestos , the knowledge to avoid asbestos exposures , and the ability to identify work areas where asbestos may be present . It will also familiarize them with OSHA and EPA standards designed to protect workers on the job site , among many other important topics .

All workers who may be exposed to asbestos on the work site should take this course .

Doors , Cabinets & Structural Repair

Opting to refinish , rather than replace is more cost-effective . In this class students will learn common framing methods , stud layouts and basics of measurement for framing and repairs to structures . We will look into reasons why doors sag and how to fix them , we will also look into common problems with cabinets including hinge repair and replacement and drawer repairs , students will learn to use pocket hole jigs to make unseen repairs on cabinets as well as tricks to fix stripped out wood . Students will learn the advantages of helicoils on metal door frames for repairs .
