NEWBORE
Hello everyone . Okay , here is the first question . How many of you are still keeping your New Year ’ s resolutions ? In these days of political correctness , I discovered I am no longer lazy . Now I ’ m energy efficient !
Well , later this month we plan to begin moving into our new activity center . A gala open house party is being planned for early March . Anne Shevlin and Kathy Fuller have done a remarkable job of taking this project from a dream in 2019 to a facility that will soon provide comfortable space to house additional activities for our residents . The building further adds to the pride we have in our
community . The walkway from the pro shop to Windemere has also been torn down as it was full of dry rot and has unfortunately fallen down in places over the past couple of years . It ’ s actually refreshing to be able to see the front of the buildings . Plans are also being discussed to spiff up the front of the clubhouse . New covered entrances over the pro shop and clubhouse will look similar to the one constructed over the front door of the Activity Center and will visually tie the complexes together .
So , this brings up the question of who manages our facilities . The answer is that one of our more important committees , the Asset Management Committee , which consists of the hardworking Anne Shevlin , chair , and Kathy Fuller , Linda Owen and Karen

March , oversees the management of our CCC common elements . This committee is staffed by Rick Schram and Jim Meierotto . Together these six people are responsible for maintaining our marina , clubhouse , pavilion , RV park , Edith Green Park , tennis club and tot lot , and will be responsible for maintaining our new activity center . They work largely in anonymity but this unsung group does a super job of protecting and preserving all of the physical assets owned by the Charbonneau Country Club and deserve big kudos for their work .
In board news , a contract was awarded to GreenPlay to develop a master plan for Edith Green Park . Once the plan is finished and approved by the board , plans for a pickleball center can be finalized and this project can move forward . A new charter was approved for the Emergency Preparedness and Safety Committee , another very important committee which is chaired by Sandy Batte and John McLain . The board also had a retreat in January to work on team building and the introduction of the use of best practices , one of our board goals this year .
The golf course has a fiscal year of April 1 to March 31 , so it is closing in on the end of its fiscal year . I ’ m happy to report that since CCC became the sole shareholder of Charbonneau Golf Club Inc ., the private golf corporation has had its best two years ever . Was it due to great new shareholder ownership ? Nope , it was Mr . COVID that really introduced many new players to Charbonneau who found the course to their liking and continue to play here .
Although , as I write this , Lux Sucre is not open yet in its new quarters . It is planning on opening in February so , as soon as it does open , I hope all of Charbonneau residents will go visit the new store and sample the new wares . Lux will be located in the old grocery minimart on the left as you enter the village , next to Hasson Realty .
So here is my last question for you all . If February is the month of love , why is it the shortest month of the year ? Happy Valentine ’ s Day everyone .
