Edward M . McLean
EDWARD M . MCLEAN
LANCASTER – Edward ( Ed ) M . McLean , formerly of Framingham Mass ., Ashland Mass ., Groveton , and most recently of Lancaster , peacefully passed away on Jan . 27 , 2017 with his family at his side . Born Feb . 26 , 1934 , he was the son of Bernard F . McLean and Helen M . Z . ( Willey ) McLean , and the loving husband for 63 years of Ruth E ( Bees ) McLean all of whom predeceased him .
Ed was a loving , caring and compassionate man . He was reliable , honest and honorable , a man of strong faith who set a wonderful example for all who knew him .
He was a member of the Middlesex Lodge of Framingham , Mass . He enjoyed Square dancing and NASCAR and family and friends . Ed was the meat cutter and then owner of the Union Ave Market for many years , then started driving school bus for local companies and then for the Town of Framingham . At age 40 he returned to school at Bentley College where he earned his certificate in Accounting which he used to do taxes and provide financial assistance in both the Framingham and Groveton area . He and Ruth moved up to the Great North Woods 35 years ago , where they bought and managed the Village Motel and Ice Cream stand . He started driving School Bus for the Groveton School District ( SAU ) and upon retirement he was presented his 50-year award for having safely driven his precious cargo to and from school every day with the utmost care for every student . He truly enjoyed driving the sports teams to and from their games especially those trips coming home with an escort after victorious championship games .
Ed also became an EMT working with the Groveton Ambulance Corp . He earned his EMT-I and then started training others in CPR and raising financial support for the Corp . He particularly loved participating in the “ Teddy Bear Clinic ” for the Groveton elementary school at Weeks Memorial Hospital . Ed loved helping people where ever he could . He often worked at the Riverside race track as an EMT and helped the Lancaster Ambulance Corp .
He was the loving father to three children , Cindy Feindel and her husband Bill from Framingham Mass ., Bruce McLean and his wife Marilyn
from Mountain City , Tenn ., and Bonnie McLean , from Groveton , and his granddaughter Eliza Barbaresi and her husband Blake . He leaves several cousins , a sister-in-law and his lifelong friend Kirby of Arizona .
There will be no calling hours . A memorial service was held at Lancaster Congregational Church of Christ on Tuesday , Jan . 31 , at 5 p . m . followed by a collation . Interment was at the Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland on Thursday , Feb . 2 , at 12 noon followed by a memorial service at The Plymouth Church of Framingham at 1 p . m ., followed by a collation .

CLARE H . YOUNG
COLEBROOK – Clare H . Young , 95 , of Colebrook , died on Wednesday evening , Jan . 25 , 2017 , at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a brief illness .
He was born in Milan on April 14 , 1921 , a son to the late Gerald and Claudice ( Hibbard ) Young .
Upon the onset of the Great Depression , Clare moved as a young child with his family to Colebrook , where he and his siblings were raised on their family farm .
Clare worked with his family on that farm for many years . He also worked mowing the Colebrook Village Cemetery for many years , and he mowed lawns for many local friends . However , music was his passion , and Clare was a talented musician who could play numerous instruments . His grandfather was the founder of the local “ Young ’ s Orchestra ” in which Clare played for years . Until only recently , Clare could be found playing music with other local musicians for the residents of the Coos County Nursing Hospital . He also enjoyed tinkering on his cars , and attending local church suppers to visit with his friends and neighbors .
Clare is survived by his sister , Lorraine Heath of Bedford ; and four nephews , Richmond Parker of Columbia , Reginald Parker of Pittsburg , Russell Heath of Bedford , and Kenison Heath of Colebrook .
He is preceded in death by a sister , Geneva Parker .
There are no public calling hours . A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Colebrook Village Cemetery of which notice will be given .

LUNENBURG , Vt .– Marcia E . ( Colby ) Pond , 71 , of Baptist Hill Road , died on Sunday , Jan . 29 , 2017 in Lancaster after a long illness .
