Annual Drill Sees
Return of Firefighter
Story and Photos by Kevin Madigan
The West Hempstead Westerners Drill Team hosted the annual Labor Day Motorized Tournament on Monday, September 5th at the track in Hempstead. This tournament marked last motorized competition of the season. The top three overall
winners were the West Hempstead Westerners, North Bellmore Rinky Dinks, and the
Hicksville Hicks. The tournament was also significant for the Westerners because
West Hempstead firefighter and drill team member Jonathan “JP” Poirot was present at the track [JP was badly injured in a motorcycle accident earlier in the year].
Congratulations to all teams who placed and for another season in the books.
