SMART Signage Solutions Smart displays for smart messaging in the business environment E nterprises are spoilt for choice when it comes to marketing and communications, thanks to exciting new display solutions. When implementing a display solution it is especially important to consider that the application is not only to drive corporate communication, but to draw attention to the brand and position it in the hearts and minds of customers. Samsung’s SMART Signage Platform now offers organisations a competitive edge. It now includes what the company refers to as System on Chip (SOC), which is a quad-core processor actually incorporated into the panel – making it a smart panel and eliminating the need to have external media players for customised content on large screens. 36 | www.firstdistribution.co.za Essentially, this means that organisations can run digital signage solutions without having to link the display panel to a PC. The SOC also enables the panels to be used to stream IPTV and provide a video on demand system. Futher, they are able to connect to a corporate or hotel network and to stream individualised content from a central server. The availability of a software development kit (SDK) means that software developers and independent software vendors can easily develop applications that schedule, send and manage content to the panels.
